Lawsuit Claims that Muscle Milk Labels Misstate Protein Benefits

By on January 28, 2015

A class action lawsuit was filed against Cytosport Inc., the makers of Muscle Milk, in for allegedly overstating the nutritional benefits of the brand’s protein on its product labels and mischaracterizing the product as “lean” in violation of label laws in California, Florida and Michigan.

The complaint accuses Cytosport of falsely marketing Muscle Milk powder products as containing the amino acid L-Glutamine since the products allegedly do not contain “any appreciable amount” of the ingredient.

Also, since Muscle Milk products do not contain any less fat than most competitors, plaintiffs asserted that Cytosport’s lean claim is false and misleading.
