Pokemon Going Into Your GMAIL?

Pokemon Go, a popular new iOS/Android where players scour the real world for virtual cartoon monsters (called Pokemon), may be poking around your private data.

Days after the massively successful launch of the game, it was discovered that the iOS app has full access to all Google account information, giving it the ability to  potentially see and modify nearly all information in Google account.   An uproar followed once this was discovered, and the app developer, Niantic issued an update that can be downloaded from the App Store.

Niantic said it did not access anything other than email addresses and user IDs, and that the update ensures it cannot access any other information.

Senator Al Franken from Minnesota sent a letter to the company expressing concern over the privacy issue and asking exactly what customer information was accessed and what was done with it.
