Qihoo 360 Technology Loses Certifications and Rankings for Anti-Virus Products

By on May 5, 2015

On April 30, 2015, three renowned global security testing organizations (AV-Comparatives, AV‐TEST and Virus Bullet) jointly announced that they will revoke all certifications and rankings that were awarded to Qihoo anti-virus software products in 2015 after the organizations determined that Qihoo submitted “products for comparative and certification testing which behaved significantly differently from those made available to its users and customers.”

Specifically, test results indicated that the Qihoo default configuration on consumer products had Bitdefender engine disabled and the QVM engine active.  This configuration results in a significantly lower level of protection and an increased probability of false positives.

Prospectively, the three security testing organizations indicated that they will demand more transparent and fair dealings to confirm that consumers are given the most accurate information available.
