In January 2016, Wendy’s Company announced that some of its customers’ personal information was compromised by cyberattacks affecting dozens of its restaurants. The data breaches gave hackers access to personal data like the cardholder’s name, debit or credit card number, expiration date, cardholder verification value, and service code.

Earlier this month, however, Wendy’s revealed that many more stores and customers were affected than initially believed. Wendy’s has announced that over 1,000 of its franchise stores were affected by the data breach.
